Breastfeeding releases hormones...

hat I really enjoy is that breastfeeding makes me have to sit down and slow down. We all know that there are hormones that the body puts out when you’re nursing that help you relax. And it’s so true. I can be wound up and lie down and nurse him and feel much more relaxed and grounded again.

fter my milk came in, I realized that it was a way of settling him off to dreamland. And that’s when it started to get easier. I realized that it was soothing for him. It was soothing for both of us, actually. It’s a moment in time that we probably won’t ever be this close again.

ne of my favorite things is when we wake up and nurse and cuddle for a long time. Sometimes if he’s upset a little bit, then he comes over and we have a little comfort, snuggle and nurse. So it’s not just so he has food— and I think he gets a lot of nutrition and antibodies and all the good stuff from the milk—but he also gets the cuddling and the comfort. It’s a snuggly thing.

feel special because I’m the only one he can nurse from. He starts saying “Mom, mom, mom mom” and gets this little cranky face on him. I just let my arms out and he’ll crawl over to me. “Mom mom mom mom” the whole time. It makes me feel that I’m really special to him.

am very happy, my baby and my relationship is good. Also my baby is very happy. The mommy and baby’s kinship is good.

he prolactin gets released and that helps with breastfeeding, it relaxes the mother a lot. I would come home from work and breastfeed and that would just relax me. It’s a lot of bonding. I have noticed that if he feels down, he’ll come breastfeed and he’s okay. That’s the main thing: he feels that I’m his mommy, that he can come here and things are going to be okay. So he feels secure.

think breastfeeding is the best thing in the world. If she’s crying or something, I nurse her and she’s fine. I guess it’s a bonding thing.
